The College of Veterinary Medicine discussed the Master’s thesis submitted by the student Azhar Qasim, entitled:
“Comparative Molecular Insights into TLR7-Mediated Innate Immune Responses in Humans and Animals.”

The thesis focused on a comparative study at the molecular level of the TLR7 gene and its role in regulating innate immune responses in humans and certain animals. It included an analysis of evolutionary differences among species, highlighting variations in viral binding affinity and their immunological implications.

The study aimed to shed light on the qualitative differences in immune recognition mechanisms of viruses, and how these differences influence susceptibility to infection and the intensity of immune responses across species.

After an in-depth scientific discussion that covered the presentation of results, their analysis, and responses to the committee’s remarks, the thesis was approved with a grade of Excellent, with some modifications requested in recognition of the student’s efforts and distinction in preparing and defending the research.
