Vision
The vision of the college is to achieve excellence and leadership in the field of veterinary education, research activities, and modern technologies that ensure animal health and safety, protect public health from zoonotic diseases, and contribute to the development of livestock resources and the achievement of self-sufficiency in animal products.
The college aspires to be the most capable scientific institution in creating highly specialized scientific cadres proficient in animal health care and livestock protection, considering livestock as a national wealth and a fundamental pillar of our national economy. It seeks distinction, creativity, and practical application in the field of veterinary medicine according to international standards, with leadership in veterinary education and scientific research to ensure animal health, livestock development, and a cleaner environment.
Mission
The mission of the college is to teach the scientific curricula of both core and non-core branches, as well as clinical branches, across the five academic stages. Graduates are awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery.
The mission also includes teaching postgraduate students to obtain Master’s and Doctoral degrees in various scientific specializations, continuously developing and updating curricula, enhancing the level of theoretical and practical teaching, and providing the latest scientific books, journals, and laboratory equipment.
The college aims to graduate specialized scientific cadres in many veterinary sciences and fundamental disciplines to serve as the main source supporting the educational process in medical colleges in Thi Qar Governorate and throughout Iraq.
It also focuses on building veterinary cadres with distinguished scientific and practical capabilities, able to compete locally, regionally, and globally, while supporting internal and external partnerships to achieve sustainable development goals and comprehensive quality standards.
Objectives
- Graduate distinguished veterinarians with solid scientific knowledge, professional skills, and ethical values necessary to practice veterinary medicine locally and internationally.
- Enable graduates to work in fields of animal diagnosis and treatment, livestock development, and human protection through combating zoonotic diseases, while ensuring the provision of safe and healthy animal-origin food in accordance with the guidelines of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH).
- Conduct innovative applied research and advance it to provide appropriate solutions for maintaining the health of domestic and wild animals, contributing to the preservation of public health, and supporting the development and increased productivity of livestock resources.
