The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: “Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.” Truly, our noble Prophet has spoken the truth.

The path of knowledge is one of the ways that leads us to the pleasure of Allah Almighty, especially when it is dedicated to serving His creation.

The College of Veterinary Medicine in Al-Shatrah District, one of the colleges affiliated with the University of Thi Qar, was established in the academic year 2014–2015 to welcome its first cohort of students from our beloved province and other provinces. We faced great challenges, as the beginning of any journey is always difficult. However, through the combined efforts of the University of Thi Qar Council, the local government in Al-Shatrah, theThi Qar Provincial Council, the Veterinary Hospital, and veterinary clinics across the districts and subdistricts of the province, obstacles were overcome, allowing the college to continue and graduate its first class in the academic year 2018–2019. This was the first fruit we harvested after five years of effort.

Furthermore, three departments have been established within the college, and work is ongoing to develop its laboratories in a way that contributes to preparing competent veterinary doctors to supply the labor market with this important segment.

The College of Veterinary Medicine is also keen to play an active role in serving the community in all possible fields. To reinforce this approach, the college opens its doors to cooperation with all government institutions and the private sector, contributing to development processes that meet the needs of society.

We pray to Allah Almighty to grant success to everyone—students, professors, and staff—in raising the level of the college and advancing it on all fronts, so that it may continue to grow and prosper in service of our beloved country, Iraq. Allah is the Guardian of success.
