University of Al-Shatrah Energy has not allowed smoking on its campus since it opened in 2023-2024, with the exception of designated areas that have been designed with effective ventilation and air extraction systems in order to promote a better environment for learning and working as well as to comply with health institutions' efforts and THE Impact Ranking policy of good health and wellbeing (SDG3).
In accordance with the regulations of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the University of Al-Shatrah constantly promotes and assists women who are interested in careers in education, including teaching, research and development projects, employment, and academic staff. The University of Al-Shatrah continuously monitors the participation of female students, including their applications, enrolment, academic performance, and degree completion. The university formed a special committee to empower women, and the committee has conducted many events, training workshops, and courses to empower women in the community of Dhi Qar Governorate.
The university formed a sustainable development unit, and the committee carried out many events, training workshops, and courses to promote the principle of sustainable development in the society of Dhi Qar Governorate. The unit seeks for the University of Al-Shatrah to reach an advanced position locally and globally in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by the year 2030. Through planning and collaborating with faculty and students in the college's scientific departments, the unit plays a key role in accomplishing the SDGs. Therefore, the emphasis will be on putting the sustainable development goals into practice as well as creating a sustainable campus through knowledge, competition, partnerships with all parties, and increasing staff and student capacities. In order to attain sustainable development goals in a balanced way, this is done using a scientific methodology that is in line with the most effective contemporary worldwide methodologies.

The following are the results of the University of Al-Shatrah specialist committee's study of the university's most recent accomplishments and future objectives in relation to the SDGs listed in the THE Impact Rankings methodology 2024:
SDG1- No poverty: Hundreds of students from low-income households have requested financial aid. Furthermore, through its collaboration with the Al-Ayn Social Care Foundation charity, which has been operating internationally and has been registered as an NGO in Iraq since 2006, the university provided financial aid to tens of students so that they could complete their degrees at the university. Without any distinction, both men and women were included in this. The university has also formed a committee to reduce education fees, and the university has reduced education fees for many families with limited income in the Dhi Qar Governorate.
SDG2- Zero hunger: Each year, financial aid is given to a number of pupils. Additionally, as part of its general policy to assist low-income students, the university has a plan to fund the food services offered on campus. The university also provided lunch for orphaned children and families with limited income.
SDG3- Good health and well-being. To combat radioactive pollution in Basra Governorate and air pollution, dust storms, their causes, damage and treatment, drug addiction, intellectual security in the health field, drugs are a scourge that destroys the security of the country, autism spectrum and drugs and their health, psychological, and social impact offer the greatest medical care to the larger community, and collaboration with regional and international organizations is continuing. Over 80% of graduates in the field of health are anticipated the following year.
SDG4- Quality education: The University keeps its laboratories up to date with the latest standards. On the other hand, the number of graduates and projected graduates who possess strong academic and intellectual credentials in every area of the university is encouraging. With the implementation of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), the university obtained ISO certificates.
SDG5- Gender equality: The University continuously monitors each student's application, enrollment, academic progress, and degree completion without regard to a student's gender.
SDG6- Clean water and sanitation: A number of academic staff members at the university have developed a future research plan to investigate the effects of proper water supply, sanitation, and hygiene on human life, agriculture, and aquaculture in the Dhi Qar governorate.
SDG7- Affordable and clean energy: The University has looked at a study strategy to identify sustainable energy options, such as solar energy, which can lower CO2 emissions and, subsequently, its impact on climate change.
SDG8- Decent work and economic growth: The University offers competitive pay rates with intensives and steadily expands the number of employment prospects within the institution without engaging in gender discrimination.
SDG9- Industry, innovation, and infrastructure: Building a contemporary hospital that will take advantage of the expertise acquired by university graduates in its relevant institutes is part of the university's continual effort to upgrade its infrastructure in the health sector.
SDG10- Reduced inequalities: Each year, a sizable number of men and women enroll at the university to begin their degrees. The University, on the other hand, does not discriminate based on gender and actively encourages women to participate fully in campus life as both students and members of the academic staff and employees.
SDG11- Sustainable cities and communities: The University opens its buildings, libraries, and other facilities to the public. Additionally, mentorship provided by the university to people who request it is always appreciated in order to raise the standard of both life and city services.
SDG12- Responsible consumption and production: The University is paying close attention to how the University's ethical food sources are being used. We also take into account dangerous items and food waste.
SDG13- Climate action: A study strategy has been developed to monitor and assess the low-carbon energy utilized by the institution, which is anticipated to be a relatively small amount. This can, however, allow other organizations to gain from the university's study that tracks and addresses the city's carbon pollution. The University has hosted a number of free training seminars:
Energy saving.
Energy investment toward sustainable development in the governorate of Dhi Qar.
Radioactive pollution in the Basra Governorate and air pollution.

SDG14-Life: below water: The University intends to provide educational programs to raise community understanding of the management/conservation of water (including irrigation), fisheries (including damaging fishing methods), aquaculture, and tourism. This will be done in partnership with other local institutions.
SDG15- Life on land: The University is eager to offer a research proposal on the campus's sustainable food production and land use. The aforementioned research plan will also include examining the fascinating habitats.
SDG16- Peace, justice, and strong institutions: The University wants to instill in its students the values of peace, fairness, and the significance of creating solid institutions. Therefore, having a vibrant student union is crucial. This calls for periodical elections and adherence to all pertinent directives and regulations from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
SDG17- Partnerships for the goals: The University has conducted several partnerships with local and international institutions and organizations to collaborate on poverty, health, and educational goals. This implies, some but not all, the Al-Ayen Social Care Foundation charity, which has been registered as an NGO in Iraq since 2006 and has an international activity, University of Dhi Qar, Dhi Qar Agriculture Directorate; the Basra Environment Directorate, Dhi Qar health directorate. The expansion of coordination with more institutions is essential to accelerate the achievement of best SDG practices.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The Dhi Qar Health Directorate, Dhi Qar Agriculture Directorate, Dhi Qar Environment Directorate, and the University of Al-Shatrah Energy Committee convened to discuss sustainability metrics for the 2024 THE Impact Ranking methodology. This discussion focused on the core Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which represent the United Nations' strategies for enhancing human life by creating optimal living conditions. These goals include: No Poverty (SDG1), Zero Hunger (SDG2), Good Health and Well-being (SDG3), Quality Education (SDG4), Gender Equality (SDG5), Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG6), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG7), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG8), Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG9), Reduced Inequalities (SDG10), Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (SDG16), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG17). The summit emphasized that achieving these goals is a collective responsibility shared by all sectors, including the community, education, business, government, and non-profit organizations.
A specialist university committee to research and prepare plans to carry out the sustainable development goals in accordance with the THE Impact Rankings methodology 2024 has been established by the University of Al-Shatrah. This needs real coordination with the rest of the community and all local, regional, and international groups and institutions that are interested.

Furthermore, as a fundamental university policy, mentorship services are offered continuously to all pertinent start-up enterprises.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has launched programs focused on women's empowerment in partnership with Iraqi universities and international organizations. As part of these efforts, a Women's Empowerment Department has been established within the ministry. This initiative reflects the vital need to cultivate female leaders in higher education, promote their involvement in decision-making processes, and ensure a strong and effective presence in leadership roles and committees.

This vision involves equipping women to overcome challenges, broadening their roles across all sectors, ensuring full protection, and providing equal access to economic, social, and political opportunities, enabling them to strengthen their capacity to contribute to the nation's development.

To enable women to become effective and capable members of society and leaders who actively engage in decision-making and contribute to shaping and strategically activating policies. This is essential to meet the country's needs both in the present and in the future. Women must acquire, develop, and utilize the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for this purpose.
:Objectives
Collaborate with local and international organizations, as well as the global community, to implement United Nations resolutions on women's rights, Increase the number of female leaders within the Ministry of Higher Education by showcasing women's achievements and skills, Enhance the representation of women in written, audio, and visual media, Promote women's participation in local and international conferences to enhance their scientific capabilities in higher education, Honor accomplished and creative Iraqi women in various fields by awarding them for their achievements or producing documentaries to highlight their contributions, Boost women's involvement in economic development through the funding of innovative projects and technology incubators and Support young female researchers, particularly those conducting outstanding PhD research, by recognizing their contributions through specialized committees and encouraging further excellence.

:Vision
By 2025, University of Al-Shatrah aspires to be a leader in both local and international efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
:Mission
Through strategic planning and collaboration with faculty and students across the college's academic departments, the unit will play a pivotal role in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The primary focus will be on the practical implementation of these goals, while fostering a sustainable campus environment through knowledge exchange, competitions, and partnerships with stakeholders, and capacity-building for both staff and students. The unit will adopt a balanced, scientific approach, aligned with globally recognized best practices, to effectively achieve the SDGs.
Duties:
Integrate sustainable development principles into the culture and traditions of the university community: - Educate both the university community and the public about sustainability issues, Provide updates and information on the university’s sustainability efforts, - Embed sustainability into the academic life of the institution. Implement ongoing projects and methods to continuously assess the university’s sustainability performance. Monitor and document sustainability solutions on the main campus, Oversee sustainability-related initiatives across the university and Publish annual reports on the university’s progress toward sustainability.
Objectives:
The Sustainable Development Unit aims to position University of Al-Shatrah as a regional and international leader in sustainability studies within higher education. Improve academic practices to meet the needs of sustainable development on campus, utilizing cutting-edge scientific methods to stay current with global advancements. Cultivate a culture of sustainability, increase awareness, and promote environmental protection to support sustainable practices across all aspects of campus life.

- على الطالب إحضار مستمسكاته الأصلية والمصورة ملونة عند الحضور للتسجيل .
- على الطالب احضار صور حديثة ملونة عدد (3) .
- سحب استمارة التسجيل الالكتروني ، واستمارة تعهد السكن، واستمارة تعهد الكفيل الضامن وترفض اي استمارة خلاف ذلك .
- على الطلبة الساكنين في محافظة ( ذي قار) أو المناطق القريبة من محافظة إحضار تأييد مضبطة سكن يذكر المسافة بين ذي قار ومحل سكن الطالب مختومة ومصدقة من المجلس البلدي .
- تأييد الطالب على الحقل الخاص بتسجيل الكلية في الاستمارة يؤيد استمراره بالدارسة ونتيجته ( ناجح ” دور اول ، دور ثاني” / راسب / عبور / استضافة ) .
- اشارة الى كتاب وزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي/ جهاز الاشراف والتقويم العلمي/قسم شؤون الاقسام الداخلية ذي العدد (ج ق 1420في 13/6/2021 ) والمتضمن قانون رقم (11) لسنة 2021 الفقرة سادساً وسابعاً من المادة(1) والذي ينص الاتي :
- الاجور المستوفاة من الطلبة الساكنين في الاقسام الداخلية للدراسات الاولية الصباحية والمسائية والدراسات العليا مبلغ قدره (30,000) ثلاثون الف دينار سنوياً تخصصه وزارة المالية عن كل طالب في الاقسام الداخلية ماعدا الطلبة المذكورين في كتاب وزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي/ جهاز الاشراف والتقويم العلمي/قسم شؤون الاقسام الداخلية ذي العدد(3664) في 9/11/2022 والذي ينص مايلي:-
- في حالة فشل الطالب في السنة الدراسية (الرسوب) فصل او اي سبب اخر تتضاعف اجور بدل سكنه للسنة التي تليها ويستثنى من ذلك التاجيل لاسباب صحية او اي ظرف طارئ من قبل السيد رئيس الجامعة.
- يعفى الطلبة الاوائل في الاقسام العلمية (تسلسل رقم 1) (قناة القبول العام) فقط وذوي شهداء القوات الامنية والحشد الشعبي من الدرجة الاولى من اجور بدل السكن.
- يرتبط الطالب بكفالة قدرها ( 250000 ) مئتان وخمسون الف دينار لاستحصال المبالغ المترتبة بذمته منها.
- حضور كفيل ( موظف حكومي ) لتنظيم الكفالة الخاصة بالطالب عند التسجيل في القسم الداخلي .
- يلتزم الطالب بدفع مبلغ مالي (250،000) مئتان وخمسون الف دينار كتأمينات في حال عدم احضار كفيل مالي تستقطع منها قيمة الاضرار التي يسببها الطالب في فترة سكنه الجامعي وترد منه ماتبقى من المبلغ في نهاية السنة الدراسية.
- على الكفيل احضار هوية المؤسسة الحكومية الاصلية ( نفاذة ) ونسخة ملونة و كتاب يؤيد استمراره بالخدمة من دائرته معنون الى (جامعة الشطرة / قسم الاقسام الداخلية ) واخذ التعهدات الخاصة .
- حضور ولي امر الطالب عند التسجيل مع إحضار هوية لولي الأمر ( الأصلية ونسخة ملونة ) وذلك لاخذ التعهدات الخاصة ولاستمرار التواصل بين الادارة القسم وولي الامر على مدار العام الدراسي .
- على الطالب جلب فحص طبي يضمن خلوه من الامراض الانتقالية والمعدية وبخلافة ترفض الاستمارة.
