Introduction:

The Department of Studies and Planning is the starting point in knowledge management and in keeping pace with scientific development.

The Department of Studies and Planning performs a strategic task by providing data and statistics on the University and its colleges, in addition to drawing up short-, medium- and long-term strategic plans, owing to the comprehensive statistics and data it holds on all the University's formations; the student admission plan is drawn up for each academic year.

In addition, it handles the establishment of scientific departments, branches and colleges to improve the current situation, keep pace with development and meet society's need for cadres and specialists in all branches of science and knowledge. The Department consists of three main administrative divisions: (Planning Division – Statistics Division – Data and Informatics Division)

Vision of the Department:

Striving earnestly to develop the performance of the University in all its scientific and administrative components to achieve the best levels of development, by setting future objectives and plans and following up their implementation through modern, well-studied planning schedules and programmes to energise work procedures in all fields

Mission of the Department:

Proceeding from the vision of the Department of Studies and Planning, and as an extension of the University's mission to attract and absorb modern scientific knowledge and the methods of teaching it using the latest means of knowledge, which are the foundation of the desired knowledge-based and economic renaissance, and since the University aspires to advance scientifically, culturally and technically through serious work, we strive to be an active part in drawing up the University's strategies in order to achieve its mission.

Objectives of the Department:

Contributing to the development of short-, medium- and long-term strategic plans to implement the University's objectives with the least effort and in the shortest time, in order to improve the statistical situation at our University.

- Divisions of the Department of Studies and Planning and Their Tasks

First - Statistics Division

The Statistics Division studies the statistical tables from all the colleges and departments affiliated to the University Presidency, provides the competent authorities with statistical data and tables, continuously updates the employee database (teaching staff, permanent staff, contract staff, seconded staff), updates the employee database (human resources) linked to the Ministry, and works to hold training courses to train the employees of the University Presidency and the colleges on the programmes received from the Ministry. It prepares annual statistics on graduates of the University's colleges, and also prepares the various statistics requested by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and other ministries

Second - Planning Division

The Planning Division updates the administrative and organisational structure of the University and its affiliated formations, showing the distribution of employees among the administrative divisions and units; draws up and completes the scientific plans of the research centres affiliated to the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs; and participates in the committee preparing the strategic plan of the University of Shatrah

Third - Data and Informatics Division

Providing technical support to all departments of the University with regard to the design of accounting, office and administrative software, and technical and informatics consultancy in various fields.

The Department, in coordination with the Central Library, supervises the management of the University's subscription to the Iraqi Virtual Science Library (IVSL), which provides research, periodicals and scientific journals, and periodically holds workshops on the development and optimal use of the virtual library.

Holding workshops in the University Presidency and the colleges on the virtual library and on how to work with Excel and the statistical tables for university statistics.

Preparing the various statistics requested by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and other ministries.
