The Corrosion Laboratory is one of the important laboratories in the field of metallurgical and materials engineering. It specialises in the study of corrosion, to which metals and alloys are subject as a result of their interaction with surrounding media. The laboratory aims to strengthen students' practical side by studying corrosion mechanisms, the factors affecting it, and methods of reducing and controlling it.

The laboratory gives students the opportunity to carry out practical experiments on corrosion rates and the effect of various environmental factors on the behaviour of metals, as well as to become familiar with the techniques and methods used to protect metallic materials from corrosion. It also helps develop students' skills in performing laboratory tests and in analysing and interpreting results on scientific and engineering foundations.

The Corrosion Laboratory is an important educational and applied environment for linking theoretical knowledge with practical experiments and giving students the experience needed to deal with corrosion problems in various engineering and industrial applications

The laboratory serves a number of courses:

- Corrosion Science and Protection: theoretical principles and practical applications

- Electrochemistry of Corrosion: electrochemical fundamentals

- Corrosion-Resistant Materials: design and development of materials

- Graduation projects and postgraduate studies

It also serves industrial cooperation through:

- Evaluating the performance of materials in various industrial environments

- Providing consultancy on selecting suitable materials for specific applications

- Developing preventive maintenance programmes for facilities

- Testing the effectiveness of various protective materials

The Corrosion Laboratory is an integrated platform for research and innovation in the field of materials resistance and protection, and contributes to developing sustainable solutions to the challenge of corrosion, which costs the global economy billions of dollars annually, with a focus on extending the service life of facilities and improving safety and reliability in various industrial applications.
