The President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Hussein Jarallah, announced the approval of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, for the establishment of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Shatrah, affirming that it will receive its students for the 2025 - 2026 academic year
This came during His Excellency the Minister's reception in his office of the President of the University of Shatrah, in the presence of the Assistant President of the University, Prof. Dr. Raed Majeed Jabbar, and the Secretary of the University Council, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rafi Muhsin.
The President of the University expressed his profound thanks and gratitude to His Excellency the Minister for his swift response and his approval of the establishment of the college, and for his high regard for the artistic, cultural and literary elites of the governorate, in a step that the people of Dhi Qar Governorate have awaited for decades: the establishment of a college of fine arts in Dhi Qar Governorate to nurture the talents and fields of creativity in which the governorate abounds.
He affirmed that this step represents a qualitative addition to the cultural and artistic scene in Dhi Qar Governorate, which has long been known for its wealth of creative talent
For his part, the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs confirmed that Minister Al-Aboudi's approval had been obtained for transferring the required teaching staff to the college and proceeding with receiving students for the coming academic year, noting that the University has allocated the necessary buildings for the college and completed equipping them with the required furniture and laboratories
It is worth mentioning that the University of Shatrah had earlier received the ministerial committee charged with conducting the field inspection for the establishment of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Shatrah with two academic departments, namely the Department of Theatre Arts and the Department of Visual Arts.
