As part of its scientific and research achievements, a research team from the College of Applied Medical Sciences comprising (Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Muhsin Ali, Asst. Lect. Hussein Ali Kareem and Mustafa Kareem Hassan)
succeeded in publishing a sound scientific paper in the field of analytical chemistry and medical sciences entitled:
INVESTIGATION Of URINARY METABOLOMIC PROFILING FOLLOWING EXPOSURE TO ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION-A BY USING LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY-MASS SPECTROMETRY (LC-MS)
in the International Journal of Applied Pharmaceutics, an international journal ranked in the second quartile (Q2) and indexed in the global databases Scopus and Clarivate.
The study addressed the effect of ultraviolet-A (UVA) radiation on human urinary metabolism using modern LC-MS techniques, focusing on metabolic changes that may constitute new biomarkers for predicting the health effects resulting from sun exposure.
The results concluded that these metabolites could be adopted as important biomarkers in the fields of public health and the prevention of diseases associated with exposure to ultraviolet radiation.
This achievement affirms the commitment of researchers at the University of Shatrah to supporting sound scientific research and contributing effectively to developing scientific solutions to health challenges, thereby enhancing the University's standing at the academic and research levels.
