Under the patronage of the President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Hussein Jarallah, the University Psychological Counselling Unit organised a scientific seminar today, Sunday, 9 November 2025, entitled "The Impact of Positive Dialogue in Narrowing the Intellectual Gap and Blending Different Convictions", in the Discussions Hall. The seminar was moderated by Lect. Dr. Murtadha Abdul-Ameer, and the lecturer was Dr. Majeed Shanawa
The seminar addressed the importance of dialogue as a human value and an effective tool for bringing viewpoints closer and overcoming intellectual differences, stressing that positive dialogue forms a foundation for building an open and understanding society based on mutual respect and intellectual diversity.
The lecturer pointed out that dialogue is a Qur'anic approach and an authentic Prophetic method, as God sent the messengers with dialogue and revealed the heavenly books containing refined dialogical methods consistent with the nature of the divine messages, noting that the conduct of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) represents an exalted model in the etiquette of dialogue with others, reflecting the sublime values of the Islamic message in its human and civilisational dimension.
The seminar concluded with a number of valuable contributions and discussions that stressed the importance of consolidating a culture of constructive dialogue in the university community, so as to promote an academic environment based on awareness, understanding and openness.
