In Cooperation with the Holy Husseini Shrine, the University of Shatrah Organises an Intellectual Seminar Entitled “The University Student between Authentic Identity and the Alienation of Modernity”

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Hussein Jarallah, the Department of Media and Government Communication, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Holy Husseini Shrine – Al-Thaqalain Cultural Centre, organised an intellectual seminar entitled “The University Student between Authentic Identity and the Alienation of Modernity” on Tuesday

18 November 2025, in the Martyr Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis Hall, in the presence of the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Raed Majeed Jabbar.

The seminar was presented by His Eminence Sheikh Aqeel Al-Turfi, accompanied by a delegation from Al-Thaqalain Cultural Centre, while its proceedings were moderated by Asst. Lect. Hammoud Zuhair.

The lecture addressed the main intellectual and behavioural challenges facing the university student amid rapid transformations, stressing the importance of balancing the preservation of authentic identity with conscious openness to the requirements of modernity. The seminar saw notable interaction from students, who raised questions and enquiries related to the topic of the seminar, along with extensive discussions of the issues raised.

The seminar also included students' participation in direct questions designed to assess their understanding, and in-kind gifts provided by the Al-Thaqalain Centre delegation were distributed to those who gave correct answers.

At the conclusion of the event, the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs presented certificates of appreciation to the delegation in recognition of their efforts, while the delegation of the Holy Husseini Shrine presented the Centre's shield to the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs in appreciation of the ongoing cooperation between the two institutions.
