Under the patronage of the President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Hussein Jarallah, the five-a-side football tournament organised by the Student Activities Department was launched on Thursday 18 December 2025, with the participation of teams representing the university's various colleges. The tournament is part of the annual programme of sports activities aimed at fostering a spirit of positive competition and developing students' physical abilities and skills.
The competitions saw broad participation reflecting students' interest in sports activities, while the University Presidency affirmed its keenness to support extracurricular activities given their impact on building students' character and consolidating the values of cooperation, discipline and teamwork.
It is worth noting that the opening was marked by good organisation and the active participation of the teams, in an atmosphere of sportsmanship and fair competition that strengthens the educational and sporting goals of the tournament.
