The President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Hussein Jarallah, met today, Sunday 4 January 2026, the Director General of the Dhi Qar Oil Company, expert engineer Saeed Zghair Shlaka, on an official visit aimed at discussing mechanisms of cooperation between the two sides. He was accompanied on the visit by the university's Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Raed Majeed Jabbar.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of strengthening the partnership between the academic sector and the oil sector, so as to support development projects in the province and to make use of the university's scientific and research expertise to serve the needs of the oil industry in the province.
The importance of opening new horizons for training, development and the qualification of students and graduates, and of holding joint events that strengthen the link between the university and the labour market, was also emphasised.
For his part, expert engineer Ali Zghair welcomed this initiative, affirming the Dhi Qar Oil Company's readiness to support scientific programmes and cooperate with the University of Shatrah in fields that serve local development.
This visit is part of the University of Shatrah's direction to strengthen its partnerships with government and sectoral institutions, thereby enhancing its role in serving the community and contributing to sustainable development in Dhi Qar Province.
