In addition, a number of administrative and scientific divisions and units have been established to organise research activities, build databases, prepare strategic studies and reports, and implement scientific and training programmes related to the centre's specialisations.
The President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Hussein Jarallah, affirmed that the establishment of this centre is an important scientific achievement in line with the directions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in linking scientific research to the issues of sustainable development and poverty alleviation, noting that the centre will contribute sound scientific studies and practical solutions based on research and scientific analysis, in cooperation with state institutions and relevant bodies.
He added that the centre will work to diagnose development and social challenges and propose policies and programmes capable of reducing poverty and achieving human development, as well as serving as a scientific platform to support researchers and postgraduate students and to strengthen the university's role in serving the community and in decision-making.
The establishment of the Centre for Development Studies and Poverty Alleviation comes within the University of Shatrah's efforts to expand its research structure and activate its academic and developmental role, in line with the requirements of the current stage and the needs of the local and national community.
