The President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Hussein Jarallah, received in his office today, Tuesday 27 January 2026, Mr. Ahmed Farhan Al-Khafaji, member of the Dhi Qar Provincial Council, on an official visit to the university.
The meeting included a comprehensive review of the state of the University of Shatrah, during which the President of the University gave a detailed presentation on the university's basic needs and the main strategic plans that the University Presidency is working to implement, with the aim of raising the academic and administrative levels in line with modern development requirements in higher education institutions.
Within the framework of strategic directions aimed at expanding the geographical reach of higher education in Dhi Qar Province, the two sides also discussed the possibility of opening a college in Al-Gharraf District, which would help accommodate the growing numbers of students and provide an integrated learning environment serving the people of the district and neighbouring areas.
The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and joint coordination between academic institutions and local authorities, given its effective role in supporting the educational process and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the province.
