The Assistant President of the University of Shatrah for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Fadhil Mohsen Hamad, received today, Thursday 18 June 2026, the representative of the Ministry's Scientific Council for Renewable Energy and Sustainability, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hasanain Adnan Abdul-Wahab, in the presence of the members of the university's central committee and the sub-committees of the colleges.
During the meeting, the representative of the Scientific Council gave guidance on the working mechanisms of the committees responsible for the renewable energy and sustainability file, and discussed the plans and programmes aimed at promoting the concepts of environmental sustainability and clean energy within the university, in line with the Ministry's directions. He also praised the efforts of the University of Shatrah and what it has achieved during this period despite being a young university, noting that the Ministry is counting on implementing the project at the university, given that the university's infrastructure is ready for it, in addition to its extensive green spaces.
In a speech during the meeting, the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs stressed the importance of activating scientific and research initiatives related to renewable energy and supporting projects and activities that help spread a culture of sustainability among students and teaching staff, as well as strengthening cooperation and coordination between the Scientific Council and the university to achieve shared goals in this field.
The meeting also saw a number of proposals and recommendations put forward on developing the performance of the committees and following up on the implementation of the approved programmes, so as to consolidate the principles of sustainability and raise awareness of the importance of shifting to renewable energy sources in educational institutions.
