Iraqi National Day

College of Education for Girls – University of Shatrah Organises a Scientific Seminar on the Occasion of Iraqi National Day.
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Hussein Jarallah,
and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Girls, Prof. Dr. Afrah Abd Maktouf Al-Ghazi,
the College of Education for Girls / University of Shatrah organised a scientific seminar entitled
«Stages of the Historical Development of Iraq's Independence up to Its Entry into the League of Nations»
delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Salim Ladhidh Wali – Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs of the College, in the College's Discussion Hall.
The seminar addressed the historical course of the Iraqi people's struggle against the Ottoman occupation, and then their resistance to the British occupation, which broke its promises to grant independence to the Arab states liberated from the Ottoman Empire and imposed the Mandate policy, which was another form of occupation.
The lecturer also reviewed the events of the glorious 1920 Revolution and the subsequent stages of continuous national struggle, crowned on 3 October 1932 by the declaration of Iraq's independence and its accession to the League of Nations as an independent state, thus ending the British Mandate imposed on the country.
This seminar was held on the occasion of the declaration of Iraq's independence, affirming the University of Shatrah's pride in its national and academic journey in instilling historical and national values in its students and lecturers, and consolidating its scientific mission of serving the homeland and building genuine academic awareness.
We wish the lecturer and the organisers of the seminar further success and advancement in their scientific careers.
