The Dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Shatrah, Dr. Yasser Al-Barrak, moderated a cultural evening held by the Union of Writers and Authors in Dhi Qar on Wednesday 17 September 2025 for the short-story writer Mohammed Al-Kadhim, in the Cultural Palace building.
At the beginning of his introduction of Al-Kadhim, Al-Barrak spoke about the most prominent features that distinguish his stories, considering him one of the few story writers who have remained faithful to writing the short story, in addition to the concern with experimentation that dominates most of his stories.
Al-Barrak concluded by saying: "The book Al-Iraqnama alone could serve as a case study for in-depth academic research at the master's and doctoral levels, should a rigorous academic researcher take it up"
It is worth noting that the evening, attended by the Chair of the Culture Committee in the Dhi Qar Provincial Council, Mr. Ahmed Saleem, and a large group of the governorate's writers and intellectuals, is part of the Union's weekly programme celebrating the creative achievements of the governorate's writers and intellectuals.
