College of Education for Girls Organises a Scientific Seminar on Psychological Factors Influencing Decision-Making.
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Hussein Al-Ghazi,
and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Girls, Prof. Dr. Afrah Abd Maktouf Al-Ghazi,
the College of Education for Girls held a scientific seminar entitled: "Psychological Factors Influencing Decision-Making", presented by
Asst. Lect. Afrah Naeem Atiya
and Asst. Lect. Maha Muthanna Hassan,
teaching staff members of the Department of Biology, on Thursday, 27 / 11 / 2025, as part of the closing activities of Educational Guidance Week.
The seminar addressed the influence of psychological factors on the decision-making process, stressing that a decision is not built on logical analysis alone but is closely linked to the individual's psychological state, personal traits and thinking patterns, and to the cognitive biases (Biases) they face, which may lead to unbalanced or less than optimal decisions.
The two lecturers explained that recent studies have shown that people are unconsciously influenced by numerous internal factors during decision-making, such as emotions, past experience and time pressure, and that understanding these influences helps build more aware and mature decisions, whether at the personal or the professional level.
This event is part of a series of awareness activities organised by the college to enhance students' psychological and behavioural awareness, in line with the university's direction of supporting guidance and counselling programmes.
